Summer '08 was juried into the Spring Arizona Artists Guild Exhibition. This exhibition juried by Robert G. You can be seen at the Arizona Artists Guild Building just south of the intersection of West Union Hills and 7th Ave on the East side of the street from March 11-27, 2011. This painting is on the way to the Arizona Aqueous XXV Exhibition at the Tubac Center of the Arts, 9 Plaza Rd. This National Juried Exhibition will be from January 13 - March 13, 2011.
The opening reception is from 5-7 pm. I hope some of my Tucson friends can make it - Tubac is about 50 mi. so of Tucson, 185 from Phoenix.

JAZZY NIGHT WINS AWARD of EXCELLENCE IN PFAA EXHIBITION

I am so Jazzed!! If I had read my newsletter before going, I would have known -- but let me tell you, it was a wonderful surprise to walk in for the reception to discover my painting right in the first row on the isle to my left -- and it had an extra tag on it!! (An extra tag is one that is not your name, title of the painting, medium & price - it usually says this is a prize!) This one said Award of Excellence. Hurray!! Many visitors ask me about the multitude of textures visible - they are intriguing!

In the show there we Best of Show, 3 Award of Excellence, 3 Awards of Merit, 2 Merchant Awards and 5 Honorable mentions!! It is a great show, well worth the stop to view!!

Peoria Fine Arts Association Exhibits at Theatre Works 8/19-9/12 2010

I am among the artists chosen to exhibit at Theatre Works in Peoria for the run of their play "Into the Woods".

I have four paintings on display: Mistletoe Forest, Noel Bluffs #1, Noel Bluffs #2 and At the Circus with Keith & Henri. Paintings selected go along with a "Into the Woods" theme. I'll update this post if I find there is an artist reception.

The play runs from today through September 12. Theatre Works is located at 8355 West Peoria Avenue, Peoria, AZ. (623) 815-7930. The Gallery is open regular box office hours Mon - Fri 10-4. Sat 4- 7:30, Sun 11:30-7:30; performace days 10 - Curtain (7:30).

Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona is a group of forty artists that was formed in 1969. These working artists are solidly based in the fundamentals of painting with watermedia. At monthly meetings, two members present a written motivation to the group suggesting various ideas, restrictions, or stimulating techniques for the next meeting. These are meant to stimulate free-thinking, play and experimentation to achieve a new view within their own work and style. Paintings are critiqued the following month as a way to encourage and nurture the artists.

WOW!! Carl Dalio is the juror who selected "Summer '08" for the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society Member's Spring Exhibition. The show is from May 14 - 29th with a reception May 14, 5:30 - 7:30. The exhibition is in the Sedona Art Center (SAC) Community Gallery on 15 Art Barn Road, Sedona, AZ.

I'm thinking a trip to my favorite place - SEDONA - is in order!!!

How exciting to have this painting selected by Joe Garcia for the Northwest Watercolor Society 70th Annual Open Exhibition. The exhibit runs from April 17 - July 17, 2010 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, 800 Convention Place, Seattle WA. The NWWS Reception and Awards Ceremony is from 6-8 pm April 22. Wish I could be there!!!! Mayhaps I can go!! Let me know if you get there!!!

How nice to be selected by Judge Michael Schlicting for the AWA 2010 Spring membership exhibition. The show will be at the Arizona Artists Guild Building from April 1-30, 2010.

The AAG building is located at 18411 N. 7th Ave. East side of 7th, just South of Union Hills. Exhibit hours: Fri & Sat 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Sun 1-4 pm.

The Artists Reception is Friday, April 23rd from 6:30 - 8:30.

Kula Korn Dancers at the PFAA Show

I'm excited to announce that not only do I have 3 paintings in the Peoria Fine Arts Association show, but Kula Korn Dancers received a very nice Merchant Award from juror Marilyn Schutzky.

The reception was Feb 7th - the show will be at the Glendale Adult Center till March 6, 2010.

Paradise2 (Squared) selected for Glendale's 47th Annual!

My watercolor Paradise2 (Squared) was accepted into the Glendale Fine Arts Council's 47th Fine Arts Competition!!!

This is the show at the Sahuaro Ranch Park. Entrance west off 59th on Mountain view Road - South of Peoria Ave. Just south of Brown. The Juried Show is Jan 27-Feb 21 in the Fruit Packing House. Wed - Sunday Only. Gallery Hours Wed - Fri 10 - 2, Sat 10-4, Sunday 12-4. The Glendale Exhibition is unique in that they provide three preview opportunities during which you can see ALL the art submitted. Yes, my rejected piece Mamas at MoMA will also be there - it will have the opportunity to be purchased! The preview party is this Friday, the 22nd, 7 pm-9 pm. $25 per person with wine, hors de oeuvres, and instrumental music. You may also preview all the art on the 23rd & 24th. Monday the non selected art is picked up by the artist and the Juried show is rehung for the duration of the exhibition.

All paintings are for sale. Make checks out to Glendale Arts Council. 20% of art purchases is tax deductable as that portion is donated to students in Glendale for enrichment and scholarships.

Many well known artists in the valley are represented in this exhibition. Please share this info with others. I hope to see you at the preview party.

Kula Korn Dancers and From Above-Utah Winter have been juried into the AZ State Fair. The State Fair Fine Art Exhibit is downstairs in the Coliseum Oct 16 - Nov 8 (closed Mondays). The closest parking is on the North Side of the fairgrounds.

3 PFAA Artists Exhibit at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts

Jane Brown, Lupe Cavanaugh & I have been selected to exhibit our work at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts through the end of November!

A fund raiser for the community is a raffle of artwork! Only $5 per ticket! Winner selects their favorite of 3 pieces (one from each artist). I have chosen my block print FALL SEEDS for the raffle.

The theatre address is 8355 W Peoria Ave. Phone: 623-815-7930. The parking entrance is off Washington Street just South of Peoria Ave. A combined 25 pieces of work are in this exhibit. Artists' reception will be before Curtain Time Saturday, October 24 (from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.) The Gallery is open regular box office hours Mon - Fri 10-4. I just was notified that I received the JUROR'S CHOICE AWARD (2nd Place) at the NAWS (Northern Arizona Watercolor Society's Experimental Exhibition juried by Beverly Roman for "Think Cool". Yea!!!! The exhibition is at the Community Exhibition Gallery (behind the Sedona Arts Center) in Sedona at 15 Art Barn Road through October 17,2009.

I picked up my painting Mammas at MoMA Tuesday from the West Valley Arts Museum. The museum is "Temporarily" closed. It needs more money to continue to operate. I am going to send a special donation to them. Won't you consider doing so also? They are currently trying to raise $150,000 to reorganize and restructure. I just submitted my latest painting "Think Cool" to the Northern Arizona Watercolor Association for their Fall Experimental Exhibition. For “Think Cool” I used acrylic Ink on tissue/rice paper for the collage band, acrylic impressed with saran wrap, a band with incised tar gel, one with glass beads in acrylic; a crackle glaze over acrylic with a top glaze of pearlized tinting medium; Northern Lights are pearlized ink and pearlized medium. Whether or not this gets in the show it definitely makes me "think cool" while spending the hot summer in the Phoenix Valley!!
